VOLUNTEERING

The Busselton Butter Factory opened as a Museum in 1975 and is now run entirely by volunteers. Tuesdays are set aside to repair, restore and create, as well as enjoying our traditional morning teas.

As the museum is growing day by day we are always looking for new members, no matter your age or capabilities.

Some Roles Include

  • The members who volunteer to man the museum reception and assist visitors when the Museum is open are called Hosts.

  • Our buildings require regular maintenance, including fixing gutters, painting, repairing and restoration.

  • Our beautiful grounds and gardens at the Old Butter Factory Precinct regular maintenance.

  • We answer research queries relating to people, places or items of interest relating to the Busselton district.

  • We have a team of people who are accessioning items into our online platform - Collections WA. Due to the size of our collection, we believe that this project will take a couple of years to complete.

  • Many of the items in our collection are fragile and need special handling, cleaning and care to ensure their preservation.

  • The Society sees the importance in recording oral histories. In doing this we have a group of members that record, edit and transcribe these narratives from the past.

  • To ensure our grounds and artefacts are always looking presentable we clean regularly, which ensures our treasured artefacts are kept in the best possible condition.
